WAYUU CULTURE FESTIVAL

More than 25 years ago the Great Wayuu Nation met to celebrate their traditions and customs in what was called the Wayuu Culture Festival. The purpose of the Festival was to rescue and preserve the ethnic cultural elements of the largest indigenous group in Colombia, based in the Guajira Peninsula, seeking to maintain the historical value and identity of the Wayuu ethnic group

The festival is the most significant event for the WayĂșu Indians, even for those who occupy the state of Zulia in Venezuela and for its colorful pomp attracts not only members of the ethnic group, but also tourists and researchers who want to join the party
